This is from four years ago. Also, saying they “cured cancer” is completely misleading. They may have developed another treatment for cancer that affects cancer’s metabolism. Just like chemotherapy or radiation are treatments and not cures, this could be filed under the same category. And, while big pharmaceutical companies probably won’t be chomping at the bit to throw money at something they can’t make money off of, seeing as the drug already exists, there’s nothing for a pharmaceutical company to fund. Pharmaceutical companies make drugs. They already have the drug.
As of this time last year, the team at the U of A that made the discovery is also recommending more clinical trials before they can say definitively whether or not this even works for sure… which is also probably why there’s been no mainstream media coverage about it. Because, unlike random conspiracy theory websites, they, you know, sometimes have to be accountable for their content (well, except for Fox News, apparently). Though, it should be noted, that Science Magazine called research into cancer metabolism one of the biggest potential breakthroughs in 2010.
